Christmas Scrapbook (pt1)

*****Today's post is in the form of  scrapbook pages from my digital scrapbook.  Please feel free to click on the pictures to get a better look! I certainly enjoyed creating these pages, I you'll enjoy viewing them.  *****

As you can see, we had a delightful Thanksgiving with the family.

We are still waiting on the the newest addition to the family.  Hopefully sometime in the next 2 weeks he or she will make an appearance!

In the meantime, we're making preparations and enjoying all things Christmas.  And that includes watching little Jack play Jingle Bells in his first piano recital.
When he heard the applause of the audience, he lit up like a Christmas tree, and began to clap for himself.

So Cute!

The decorating is  done....
Check it out!

That's all for now.
Check back soon for part 2 of our
Christmas Scrapbook.
In the meantime, enjoy this beautiful season of
love!

And don't forget to keep it simple!

Decking the Halls....Christmas House Tour

***CHRISTMAS HOME TOUR***

Christmas preparations are under way at our house.
I usually try to get an early start decorating so I can pace myself through the hustle and bustle of the holiday season
(so as not to get too stressed out.)

Our house is totally
decked out.
I'd like to tell you that there is a lot of glitter and sparkle here.
But the truth is....
Our Christmas decor is best described as
VINTAGE....

This little sleigh always adorned my grandma's
kitchen table.  For me, it holds a treasure trove
of memories.

....with hints of BURLAP....

and
yes...

ANTLERS!

Our tree is the
Centerpiece of our home.

I don't know about you,
but I love all Christmas trees!

Our tree top is a bit unusual.
But that's okay,
'cause we're a bit unusual, too!

Our grandkids enjoy the
Little People Nativity
that's under the tree.

It gets rearranged every time they visit :)

Hot chocolate anyone?
Vintage mugs and a jar full of  marshmallows..

                                               The old  "spring wreath"
is now a Christmas wreath.

And we can't forget to go outside to see the outdoor decorations....

More burlap and antlers!

Well, there you have it.  I hope you enjoyed the tour.

But more than anything, I hope you take time to consider the reason for this beautiful season.
It's more than
presents and bows...
more than decorations and trees,
or cookies,
or parties....

It's about a baby-
born to save the world.

“Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?
We saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.”

In this household,
Keeping it Simple
often means

CHEAP!

While some may call it being cheap,
others may call it being frugal.

But whatever you want to call it
I just like to think of it as

common sense.....
or perhaps good stewardship.

Christmas is the perfect time to exercise these principles.

Our decorations are cheap!
I use whatever I can find around the house.

I rarely spend money on decorating unless its a trip to the vintage store for something used or
to Michael's.....I Love Michael's
to get supplies for crafting some kind of decoration I've dreamed up.

Anyone can go to the store and buy pre-made decorations...right?..
you now the kind...

The Santa that ho ho ho's.....
or the snowman that glows.

But to transform everyday objects into Christmas treasures....well that's what I call being
CREATIVE!

I won't keep you in suspense anymore....

Here are a few of our
frugal
 but
Creative
and
Festive
Decorations..

And speaking of frugal and creative...

Here are a few gifts I made this year for some special people on my "nice" list.

Oven door T-towels made from 1 towel, 1 pot holder and
1 button...Easy Peasy!!

Here is a brief tutorial on how to assemble the towels!

And how about this clever idea I saw on Pinterest.
I was able to use up beads I already had.  The only thing I had to buy was a pack of long jewelry pins, and a roll of (stiff) ribbon.

So, whether you are the kind that prefers to purchase your decorations (and gifts) or
you're like me and prefer to do it the cheap, I mean frugal way....

I hope you enjoy the simple act of decorating your home.

And I hope you take time to drink in the joy that comes as we receive the gift that has been given to us....The true meaning of Christmas...

the gift of

Our King!

All is Calm, All is Bright!

So my blogger friends...
How are your Christmas preparations coming along?

With just a little more than 2 weeks left until Christmas,
I can honestly say that around here...

ALL IS CALM
and
ALL IS BRIGHT.

I  don't know about you,
but I like calm.
As Martha would say.....It's a good thing!

At our house
It's also bright....
and white!

In previous years....
I have decorated with both colored lights...
and white lights.

internet pic

Truth be known~
I think I prefer the white lights.
But I know some folks, especially those with little ones, seem to prefer the colored lights...

and maybe you like lights that twinkle, blink, or race.
Mine don't.
Not that I have anything against twinkling, blinking and racing lights:)

The other day,
I had a discussion with a friend of mine about what kind of wrapping paper she prefers to use.
She likes all her packages to be wrapped in
COLORFUL
non- matchy matchy paper...

And I know some folks who just don't give it a second thought,
they just use what they have.

But obsessed people like myself...
well we like everything to be
 coordinated!

and

~MATCHY MATCHY~

And this year ...
my paper just happens to be

White
and
BRIGHT
and somewhat

Silvery......

with a pinch of Chartreuse of course.

As you may recall from my last post I love Chartreuse!

Besides the obvious Babe in a Manger.....
One of the beauties of the Christmas season is that there are as many ways to decorate and celebrate
as there are decorators and celebrators.

And I can appreciate ALL of them!

So what's your style?
White and bright?
Colorful?
Coordinated paper?
Mismatched
or Colorful paper?

I would love to hear what puts the
jingle in your bells
 this holiday season!

Whatever your style
Have a very Merry (and bright) Christmas!

Oh,
and remember to

Projects that have been keeping me from blogging...Project #1

Normally over the winter months, I have some free time to do some of the things I like to do, like make some cards or scrap some pages.  But this winter, a variety of things have kept me so busy, that I haven't even been able to keep up with my blog.

So before the gardening season is officially upon us, I thought I'd share with you a few of the projects that have been literally consuming my life.

Project #1-Painting and Redecorating

Hubs took off work for a few days to help me paint.  (or perhaps I helped him)  We painted our bedroom and bathroom as well as my Bubba's old room.  All were in need of a makeover.

Our Supervisor

Evidently, Josie got tired just watching us!

After

Caricature of hubs

Made use of an old picture frame by adding pics of
the grand babies

I still have a few finishing touches to do yet, including a  headboard.  But the worst is done, and we are enjoying our new bedroom and bathroom.

Bubba's old room is now a
Playroom for the babes

Before
Ya gotta love that copper color.
It was the backdrop for all things camo!!

After

I have to admit,
I am not a blue person.

But I wanted to decorate this room with all the stuff that has been living in boxes in the basement for YEARS.  Stuff that not only belonged to my kids, but to me as well.  After taking a survey of all the stuff, I decided on a very pretty blue that I'm actually really pleased with!

Hubs made me this lovely shelf to
 house all the memorabilia.

This table and chairs belonged to me when
 I was a child,
as did the bookshelf next to it.

Ah yes, The Kitten Twins, one of my favorite books.

So there you have it.  The first project that has been hindering my blogging.  Stay tuned for the
rest of this story!
