IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME

Wow! Its been a long time since my last post. Time flies when you're having fun. It has been crazy busy around here. We have a huge garden that is frantically growing.....WEEDS! Okay, so that's the excuse I'm using for being MIA.

So anyway, I thought an updated post was way O V E R D U E. I really have been super busy. My "simple" life has been spiraling out of control. I've been spending a lot of time with my favorite little person. He's such joy. And he sure brightens up our world! As you can see, he's growing quickly, and he's in to EVERYTHING!

When I'm not lovin' on my little boy, the yard and garden are calling my name. The work outside never ends. There is ALWAYS something to do. This week it's peas. I shelled peas until my fingers were numb. But they sure look "purty" in the freezer.

Last week I was in cherries up to my elbows. I love cherries! They especially taste good in the dead of winter. They are a perfect match with some yogurt and homemade granola. Right now its difficult to even think about the chill of winter though, while we're in the middle of some very warm weather. So I think for now I'll just savor the flavors of summer! Mmm good!

I have so enjoyed the blog Mennonite Girls Can Cook.....So much so, that I decided to start my own version. My mom and daughter agreed to join me in this blog endeveor. Each of us bring a different style of cooking. My daughter is into vegetarian cooking. Mumsy is more of a down home cook and enjoys trying new recipes she finds in the newspaper or a food magazine. Her idol is Paula Deen. I enjoy a variety of recipes, but am especially fond of foods that require wholesome ingredients, especially things I can grow. We are just in the infancy stages of the blog. But please feel free to check back often. I hope to add a few more cooks and of course a lot more recipes. You can find our blog at www.carlislecooks.blogspot.com.

Father's Day is on Sunday, so don't forget to honor the special men in your life.

Grampie and Jack-I love watching them play together!
